BEETHOVEN, Symphony No. 9
The past, the present, the here and the elsewhere become one in this great musical celebration presented to inaugurate the OSM’s new home, under the direction of Kent Nagano. Beauty and the power of music surge forth to the themes of brotherhood, humanity and joy.
Kent Nagano conducts the symphony that changed the course of music history, turning the tide with the magnitude of its aspirations. Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony fills the air for the first time in the Orchestra’s new home, where they are who are joined by a brilliant ensemble of international soloists and choristers from Montreal and Toronto. Homegrown poets also help us rediscover the universal scope of Schiller’s “Ode to Joy.”
SAINT LAWRENCE CHOIR and CIRQUE ELOISE will join this performance from the ‘Quartier des Spectacles’ in front of the building for a televised multi-media concert version for CBC.
